There doesn’t seem to be any stopping Joey Logano and his No. 22 Shell/Pennzoil Ford Fusion, who just celebrated his fifth career Chase victory after an intense race to the finish that had us biting our nails at Bob Chapman Ford.
“The cars were very fast,” said Logano, “and I couldn’t be more proud of what this Shell/Pennzoil team is doing right now. We’re such a fast race car, such a great team. We’ve showed it two weeks in a row now and this is a lot of fun. We’ve just got to ride this wave and we’ve got to get to Homestead still.”
It also marked Logano’s sixth NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) win of the season and the 14th of his career, and contributed to an impressive list of numbers for the automaker and the team it powers.
Logano’s win marked Ford’s 31th all-time NASCAR Chase victory and 639th all-time NSCS win. It bumped Team Penske’s Ford-powered NSCS wins to 47 and the Fusion’s victory tally to 70 since the car became Ford’s flagship vehicle in 2006.
